While Reddit may be the king of forums at 3.8B visits vs 13.4M by HackerNews (in March 2025), it’s still a forum with lots of value.
So I built a smart social media listening tool to help cut down on sourcing time. The following tutorial shows you had it’s done — in less than 2 minutes.
It’s a simple set of steps.
- Select your keyword of interest
- Pass it to HackerNews API (it’s free and open source)
- GPT 4.1 powered AI Agent with HTTP Request tool (scrapes the HackerNews post)
- Gsheets to summarize my findings
